Pune 1 November 2019 : Early intervention of developmental issues in children will be a key to optimal outcomes opined various experts . Inamdar Multispeciality Hospital in association with Indian Academy of Pediatrics ( IAP ) ’ organized a CME on developmental pediatrics on Sunday .
The ‘Roots to Wings’ child development center at Inamdar Hospital was inaugurated at the hands of senior paediatrician Dr Archana Kadam during the conference . The center will have all the services needed to address the needs of children facing developmental issues . These services include in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, psychological counseling, remedial therapy etc.
Senior Consultant Paediatrician Dr Archana Kadam said that the incidence of developmental problems is definitely on the rise . Early years of life are important for lifelong development . So it is important to intervene early which will be a key to optimal outcomes. Each child requires a individual therapy as the needs are different. Paediatricians should also screen the parents and analyze the domain development of children which includes roll over , crawling , speaking etc . All these domains are interlinked and issue in one can affect the other . She added that the challenge is that there aren’t enough facilities to address developmental problems and the demand far outnumbers the supply or the availability of such facilities . So the inauguration of ‘ Roots to Wings’ Child Development Center at Inamdar Hospital was the need of hour especially on this side of the city .
Consultant Paediatrician at Inamdar Hospital Dr Yogini Chidgopkar said that the ‘Roots to Wings’ child development center will focus on holistic care of babies facing developmental issues. As these babies have different needs, they need rehabilitation under many heads as in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, psychological counseling, remedial therapy etc. Parents have to run a lot for getting all those cares at different places. Landing up in frustration & faltering of the care. Therefore it was the need of the hour especially in this part of the city to come up with a child development center. This center will address all the needs of such kids and bring some relief to the parents.
The center is now open to all class of patients. The center has pediatric neurologist, Dr Abhijeet Botre, Pediatrician Dr Yogini Chidgopkar, Pediatric Physiotherapist Dr Darshita Fatnani, occupational therapist Dr D P Jha & Dr Pooja Chinchole, speech therapist Dr Sachin Sakhuja & Clinical psychologist Dr Vaishali Girame. All kinds’ facilities needed for special kid will be provided here. Dr Parvez Inamdar has been a constant motivation for an ambitious project like this said the team members of Roots to Wings child development center.
During the conference Dr Yogini Chidgaonkar spoke on early diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy while Dr Abhijit Botre spoke on neurological issues in developmental paediatrics and Dr Sameer Desai spoke on Orthopedic Management in CP.Dr Rani Balgude proposed the vote of thanks .
