EC Extends Deadline For Claims, Objections on Maharashtra Voter Rolls to October 26
New Delhi, 13th October 2026: The Election Commission of India has extended the deadline for filing claims and objections under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Maharashtra by 14 days, from October 12 to October 26. The revised schedule states that scrutiny and disposal of the claims and objections will be completed by November 10, and the final electoral rolls will be published on November 16.
The commission has announced the SIR exercise across 19 states and Union Territories, including Maharashtra, with October 1 set as the qualifying date. The draft electoral rolls in Maharashtra were published on August 31, following which voters were given until October 12 to raise objections or seek corrections.
The extension was granted after the Chief Electoral Officer of Maharashtra requested additional time. Under the revised schedule, notices will be issued and necessary verification carried out before claims and objections are disposed of by November 10.
Voters can use the extended deadline to seek corrections to their names, personal details or other entries in the electoral rolls, or to raise objections against entries. The Election Commission has also directed officials to publicise the revised schedule widely and urged voters to submit claims and objections through the prescribed procedure within the extended deadline.
