Eighty-two candidates coached in Jamia crack IAS (Prelims-2015) Examination

Jamia Millia Islamia is pleased to announce that eighty-two candidates coached at the Residential Coaching Academy of Centre for Coaching & Career Planning at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) have qualified IAS (Prelims-2015).

The Academy runs free coaching programmes for Minorities, SCs, STs and Women aspirants who wish to prepare themselves for a variety of jobs. This new facility has been offered by the University Grants Commission for enabling students for various career opportunities.

The Academy has drawn upon professionally qualified faculty both from within and outside Jamia, to meet the requirements of the coaching. During the past four years, students were selected for coaching on the basis of entrance tests conducted for the purpose. Subsequently, they were offered classroom teaching clubbed with periodic tests, evaluation, and mock interviews.

The Academy conducts regular written tests comprising General Studies and CSAT (objective type) based on the UPSC model, and Essay writing in English/Hindi/Urdu to test candidate’s ability to express themselves in an organised and structured manner. Coaching is offered in General Studies, CSAT and selected optional papers like History, Public Administration, Political Science, Geography, Sociology, Urdu and Hindi literature. Test series and evaluation are carried out by faculty members of Jamia.

The Academy is conducting an All India Entrance Test for Civil services Coaching Programme 2016 on October, 25, 2015. A record number of 3200 students have applied for 200 seats. The Academy has planned to include many features in the next coaching programme such as Group Discussions, writing and presenting short papers on various issues, bi-weekly subjective type test followed by discussion, weekly Objective Type Test, Extempore Speech to groom the candidates for Prelims, Main and Personality Tests.
