Ek diya hamere sainiko ke naam
‘I do not know your name;
Nor for which battle you died;
I do not know your home;
Nor the tears that were cried,
But I know your spirit exists,
That your courage is admired;
Your sacrifice shall be honoured,
By each soul that is inspired!!!’-
Pune: These were the starting message by Kavana Anklekar, a young student of class 8th.
Our soldiers redefine patriotism every single day. They not only protect our borders but jump in every time their is calamity. If we had a good night’s sleep, it is because someone has left all the pleasures of life behind, all the things one deeply loves….to serve a greater purpose, to serve the nation. Viman Nagar Residents Association (VNRA) honours the supreme sacrifice of our brave men and on November 1st, residents of Viman Nagar lit a Diya for our martyred soldiers and all those who continue to protect us at the border and let them know that we are always with them in heart and spirit. This small but soulful event ignited our hearts to once again sing the glories of our motherland and it’s brave sons.
Ek diya jawano ke naam, was an amazing concept.
The event was organised at Datta mandir Chowk. The first diya was lit up by Retd Col Dev and retd wing commander Anil Hosanghbade.
Flash mob also danced on the tune of buri nazar na hamper dalo , sabse aage honge Hindustani.
“What I liked most was we weren’t honouring any politician but our army men who sacrifice their Diwali for us”, said Samiya Hamdule, a young dentist.
Sonit Hanumante who is just 7 years was so touched by the sacrifices our soldiers made, that he too wants to join the army and fight our enemies.
