Pune, 29 July 2023: Twitter, now known as X under Elon Musk’s leadership, has initiated a significant branding transition. The platform has rebranded its official handle from @twitter to @x and replaced the iconic Twitter bird with an ‘X’ inside. The beta version of the Android app now reflects these changes with a new icon, signifying the transformation.

Since Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter in October 2022, the platform has undergone rapid changes, including the introduction of paywalled features and the removal of blue tick verification for prominent accounts. Now, a major rebranding effort is underway, with a new logo and a fresh identity.

Elon Musk’s affinity for the letter ‘X’ is evident throughout his business ventures, with x.com initially being an online bank that later became PayPal. Musk renamed Twitter’s corporate entity as X Corp. after taking over the platform. His fascination with the letter extends to personal aspects as well, as one of his children is named “X,” with a unique combination of letters and symbols.

Despite the decision to rebrand Twitter as X, potential legal complexities arise, as the letter ‘X’ is already widely used and cited in trademarks, with companies like Meta and Microsoft having intellectual property rights associated with it.

Nevertheless, Elon Musk’s visionary leadership continues to reshape Twitter’s identity, solidifying the platform’s evolution into X, as it aims to redefine the social media landscape.
