EPFO Provides Major Relief: UAN Activation and Aadhaar Linking Deadline Extended – Step-by-Step Guide Inside!

New Delhi, 26 February 2025:  The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has given major relief to the employed people as it has extended the deadline for activating the Universal Account Number (UAN) and linking bank accounts with Aadhaar. Now this important task can be completed by March 15, 2025. The previous deadline expired on February 15, 2025.

To access all EPFO online services, activating UAN is mandatory. EPFO shared this update through its official Twitter (now X) account.

Why is UAN Activation necessary? 

Universal Account Number (UAN) is 12 digits long and allows employees to track all the information related to their PF (Provident Fund) account.

Under the EPFO’s ELI scheme, the government provides incentives and other benefits to new employees. Therefore, it is very important to link UAN with Aadhaar and a bank account.

How to do UAN Activation and Aadhaar Link?

Let’s know the easiest way to do UAN Activation:

  • Visit the official website of EPFO.

  • Click on ‘For Employees’ in the Services section.

  • Click on ‘Member UAN Online Service’.

  • Click on ‘Activate UAN’.

  • Enter 12-digit UAN, Aadhaar number, name, date of birth, mobile number, and captcha.

  • Click on ‘Get Authorization Pin’.

  • An OTP will come on the mobile number linked to Aadhaar, enter it and click on Submit.

  • UAN will be activated and a password will be received on the mobile.

  • Login by entering your UAN and password.

How to link Aadhaar to EPF account?

  • Visit the official website of EPFO.

  • Click on ‘Member UAN Online Service’ in the ‘For Employees’ section.

  • Login by entering UAN and password.

  • Click on ‘KYC’ option in the ‘Manage’ section.

  • Enter Aadhaar number and bank account details.

  • Click on ‘Save’ and wait for EPFO verification.

  • After KYC approval, Aadhaar will be linked to the EPF account.

EPFO’s New Changes and Future Plans

EPFO is planning to introduce PF withdrawal through UPI. This will make the PF withdrawal process even easier.  EPFO has implemented new rules, which allow name and date of birth corrections without any additional documents. Additionally, Now EPFO members will be able to independently transfer their PF account from one employer to another.
