EXPO SPRING TERM 2017 INAUGURATED AT NDA, KHADAKWASLA
The EXPO is a bi-annual event at National Defence Academy, conducted during the week preceding the Passing out Parade. The event represents the culmination of various ‘hobby’ club activities at NDA. Expo- Spring Term – 2017 was inaugurated on 27 May 2017, by Mrs Jasjeet Kler, President, Family Welfare Organisation in the presence of the Commandant, Air Marshal Jasjeet Singh Kler, AVSM, VM, in the foyer of the Rakesh Sharma Block and will be kept open for visitors on 28-29 May 17.
As the name suggests, the event is an ‘exposition’ of the creative talents of NDA cadets. Cadets hone their creative skills through the medium of various ‘Clubs’ which they are a part of. The clubs range from Archery, Astro-Navigation, Static and Flying Aero-modelling,10 Meter Weapon Shooting, Automotive, Arts, Photography, Dramatics, Western & Classical Music, Dance, Artificial Intelligence & Robotics, Skeet Shooting, Golf, Life Saving Skill, Cycling and group of Waterman ship clubs which include Sailing, Kayaking and Rowing.
The activities of these clubs are well organised with clear cut objectives. Recent improvements in infrastructure with the introduction to innovative equipments have supplemented their effectiveness, as a launching pad for cadets to demonstrate their creative essence to the world outside.
The Cadets of NDA have earned laurels in Silhouettes 2017, an inter college cultural festival organised at the AFMC from 23 to 27 Feb 17. Our Cadets bagged the 1st prize in Debate and Photography, 2nd prize in Dance and Western Music and 3rdprize each in Arts and Dramatics. Besides this NDA cadets also participated in competitions in various other disciplines like Riding, Shooting, Marathons etc at various levels and won a host of prizes.
Besides developing the skills of a ‘Gentleman & Warrior’ in this cradle of military leadership, cadets are expected to give expression to their creative skills, where, these clubs play a crucial role.
