One rank one pension – Modi govt pays Rs 8,100 crores to 36 lakhs ex-soldiers

Pune – Narendra Modi led NDA government has kept its word as mentioned in their manifesto and given one rank pension (OROP) benefits to about 36 lakhs exservicemen. Till March this year the government has paid over Rs 8,100 crores.

The information was obtained by Pune-based RTI activist Prafful Sarda from the Ministry of Defence this month.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi definitely kept his word & took extra efforts for people who made our country proud. As a result since 2015 more than Rs.8100 cr paid to more than 35 lakh cases and many are in progress. As a citizen of this country I am happy some part of my tax money utilized for Brave soldiers of our country”, said RTI activist Prafful Sarda.

As per the RTI reply dated May 18, in the 1st installment 20,07,878 people have received Rs.4090.94 Crores, In 2nd installment 15,70,484 people received Rs.2331.15Crores & In 3rd installment Rs.1707.09 Crores is paid. And in the year 2016-17 Modi Govt alloted Rs.12456 cr.out of which till 12.11.2016 Rs.3020.97cr was utilized on account of arrears of OROP.
