Pune, 16th February 2024: In a tense turn of events, a bomb blast threat rattled the city today as an anonymous caller dialed the Pune police control room around 2 pm, sending shockwaves across Shivajinagar, Pune station, Pimpri Chinchwad, and even stretching to Mumbai’s Bandra and Gateway of India. The caller menacingly declared the detonation would occur at 5 pm.

Swiftly responding to the alarming call, Pune Police, in coordination with other agencies, launched a comprehensive operation to trace and apprehend the potential threat. Within a short span, the suspect responsible for the hoax call was successfully detained.

Authorities identified the detained individual as a resident of Hadapsar, shedding light on his struggle with psychiatric illness. This crucial detail adds a layer of complexity to the incident, prompting questions about the motive behind the false bomb threat.

An officer said, “Our teams acted promptly to address the threat and ensure the safety of the public. The detained individual is currently undergoing a thorough evaluation to assess his mental health condition. Preliminary investigations suggest that this incident is a result of psychiatric distress rather than any malicious intent.”
