Fancy Plates Fuel Pune RTO’s Financial Surge: Revenue Soars to Rs 49.82 Crores
Pune, 8th April 2024: The Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Pune has reported substantial revenue gains in the fiscal year 2023-24, primarily attributed to the sale of fancy number plates.
From April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024, the RTO garnered a staggering ₹49,82,84,738 in total revenue. Of this amount, ₹44,90,70,500 was accrued from the issuance of fancy number plates, while ₹4,92,14,238 was generated through auctions.
This marks a significant increase of ₹11,63,19,243 compared to the preceding fiscal year 2022-23. According to Pune RTO officials, certain numbers such as 1, 9, 90, 909, and 999 remain among the most sought-after in Pune city.
The surge in revenue underscores the continued demand for personalized vehicle identification, reflecting the growing trend of individualized vehicle customization among Pune’s motorists.
