Finolex Industries with its CSR partner Mukul Madhav Foundation facilitated Pandharpur Pilgrims
Mumbai, July 16 2019: Finolex Industries Limited (FIL), India’s largest manufacturer of PVC Pipes and Fittings along with its CSR partner Mukul Madhav Foundation (MMF), is supporting the Pandharpur Pilgrims on their pilgrimage journeys. The company has launched several initiatives to ensure their wellness and also spread hope and happiness. The facilities provided include distribution of durable bags to carry their belongings, medical camps and construction of three night shelters. Finolex Industries Ltd. makes a notable contribution during the palki procession every year.
Over the 30 days of the pilgrimage, Finolex Industries and Mukul Madhav Foundation conducted medical camps at 13 locations for three palkhis, namely Sant Dynaeshwar, Sant Tukaram and Sant Sopankaka. The medical camps comprised of teams with doctors and nurses from Sassoon Hospital, who catered to medical needs of the warkaris. The camps helped in providing treatment for ailments including fever, headache, injuries, indigestion, weakness etc. The teams also helped out with relief for allergies, dehydration and problems of eyes & ears. The warkaris were provided with zip lock pouches containing basic drugs, glucose packs and first aid items. The company also deployed medical vans to provide other medical treatment. Nearly 25,000 number of people benefitted from the medical camps.
As a part of the initiative to support pilgrims, Finolex Industries and Mukul Madhav Foundation distributed around 2,00,000 strong, durable and waterproof bags for the pilgrims to carry their belongings in their long and arduous journey towards the shrine. Among other important items distributed, there were 1,00,000 Haripath, 25,000 Kunchis and 10,000 Gandhi Topis.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Nitin Kulkarni , President , Sales and Marketing , Finolex Industries said, “We are blessed to be of service to the Pandharpur Pilgrims. The people from all walks of life from Maharashtra and Karnataka come to venerate Vithobha Mauli, and most of them travel by foot. Shelters at the three pitstops enroute to the shrine will give them a chance to rest and rejuvenate before embarking on their journey. The bags and the medical camps organized have helped us to assist over 25,000 number of people over 30 days. As responsible corporate citizens, we at Finolex Industries, want to help the foster a sense of oneness at religious and social gathering by reaching out to the community at large.”
The pilgrim shelters were built at Pirachi Kuroli, Loni Kalbhor and Wakhari districts that are on road to Pandharpur shrine. The shelters were built with an objective to provide the pilgrims with a place to rest in the night and rejuvenate themselves as they carry palkhis to the shrine. The inauguration of the Pilgrim Shelter was done by Residential District collector Mr. Ajit Deshmukh who was aided by Prant officer Mr. Sachin Dhole, BDO Mr. Ghodke, the Tehsildar, Village Development Officer, Grampanchayat members and the villagers.
