FIR Against Elderly Woman For Spreading False Rumor About Bomb At Pune Airport

Viman Nagar, 4th August 2023: A 72-year-old woman has been booked by Pune City Police for allegedly spreading rumours about ‘bombs around her’ at the Pune international airport yesterday.

Based on a complaint from CISF constable Dipali Zawre (33), an FIR has been registered against the woman who hails from Gurgaon at the Vimantal police station. She has been booked for offences under sections 505 and 182 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

According to the FIR, the incident occurred at the frisking booth inside the airport premises around 2.20 pm on August 3 (Thursday). Constable Dipali Zawre and her colleagues were on official duty when the accused elderly woman allegedly spread a rumour claiming, “Mere Charo Taraf Bomb Laga Hai”, causing panic.

Police Sub Inspector SR Karpe is further investigating the case.

As of now, an investigation is underway to ascertain the veracity of the rumour and to understand the motive behind the accused’s actions.
