Viman Nagar, 7th July 2025: A fire broke out around 1 am near Ramwadi Gaothan on Nagar Road, gutting six two-wheelers parked outside a commercial building and filling the premises with thick smoke. Prompt action by the Pune Fire Brigade ensured the safe evacuation of over 200 residents. No injuries were reported.
The fire caused heavy smoke to rise through the building’s staircase. The heat shattered the glass railing, which unexpectedly helped ventilate the smoke, aiding the evacuation process.
“While the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, our priority was the safe evacuation of residents,” said an assistant commissioner of the Pune Fire Department. “Approximately 200 people were rescued, and I commend officers Nitin Tengire and Sanjay Jadhav for their extraordinary efforts during the operation.”
According to fire officials, around 100 residents were initially evacuated, followed by the safe rescue of the remaining occupants. The fire, which started in the parked vehicles, did not spread to other parts of the building, thanks to the timely response by the fire brigade.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
