Pimpri, October 1, 2020: The number of Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) infected patients in Pimpri-Chinchwad city has started to decline; also, many patients have been preferring treatment at home. As a result, the civic administration has decided to shut down some COVID Care Centers in the city. In the first phase, the centres in the areas where the number of patients is less will be closed, informed the PCMC officials.

At present, more than 6,000 patients in the city are being treated at the COVID Care Center and a private hospital. Many patients have opted to take treatment at home. The officials stated that citizens who live in the housing societies get treated at home if infected by the virus, as space is available at home for isolation.

Moreover, the number of patients in the city has also started to decline over the last four days. The number of patients in slum areas has also come down. Hence, many COVID Care Centers are lying vacant. So, the local administration has decided to close down the centres; including MHADA colony at Mahalunge, Indira College, Dr DY Patil, ESI Hospital Chinchwad, Symbiosis Kiwale, five COVID Care Centers in the first phase.

“We had prepared to accommodate ten thousand patients in the facilities; but fortunately, this is not the case in the city now. The patient population is slowly declining. Many citizens are taking treatment at home. As a result, some COVID care centres are being closed. Although people should take care of themselves, wear face masks and should follow rules,” said Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Commissioner, Shravan Hardikar.
