Mundhwa, 19th September 2023: The work on the flyover at Mundhwa on the Pune-Solapur railway line is almost eighty percent complete and is expected to be completed by the end of December, according to a decision taken in a meeting between the municipality and the railway administration on Tuesday.

The completion of the flyover will bring much-needed relief to residents of Mundhwa, Ghorpadi, and Kalyaninagar, who currently have to cross the railway gate multiple times a day, causing inconvenience and traffic jams. The work on the flyover began three years ago, but was slowed down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

MLA Sunil Kamble, who held a joint meeting with municipal and railway officials on Tuesday, inspected the work and said, “Citizens of the Camp area have to cross the railway gate to go to Mundhwa, Keshavnagar, and Kharadi areas. Even residents of these areas have to do this to come to Pune city. It wastes time and also causes traffic jams. About 104 trains pass through this line in a day. So many times the railway gate has to be closed. Therefore, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) had undertaken the work of constructing a flyover.”

Tenders for the flyover on the Pune-Miraj railway line are also in the final stages and will be invited by Diwali. This work is planned to be completed in the next two years, which will further reduce the travel time to East Pune areas and alleviate traffic congestion.

The completion of these two flyovers will be a major boost for the development of East Pune and will improve the quality of life for its residents.
