Pune, 9th September 2021: BJP Maharashtra state president Chandrakant Dada Patil was felicitated by the members of the Sikh community from Pune. The function was held at YMCA Hall, Quarter Gate, Nana Peth, on Wednesday.

Sikh civilians in Afghanistan were in a difficult situation due to the dire situation created by the Taliban. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP government brought the holy Guru Granth and Sikh citizens to India safely. It also opened the way for Indian citizenship to Sikh citizens under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Patil said.

He added Citizenship Amendment Act is passed for those who have been persecuted in neighbouring countries on the basis of religion. The law proves that India is the only safe country for the people of Afghanistan due to the recent events in the country. Therefore, amidst strong protests from various social organizations, political parties and students across the country, the central government implemented the law. The Modi government implemented the citizenship law even after violent protests against it across the country.
