Electric Car Catches Fire on Pune-Bengaluru Highway Near Navale Bridge, Massive Traffic Jam Ensues
Narhe, 20th July 2026: An electric car caught fire suddenly on the Bhumkar Bridge near Navale Bridge on the Pune–Bengaluru National Highway on Monday, triggering panic among motorists and causing major traffic congestion.
Upon receiving information about the incident, officials and personnel from the Narhe Police Station, the Fire Brigade, and the National Highway administration rushed to the spot and launched emergency response operations. The incident took place around 8 pm.
The blaze sent thick plumes of smoke into the air, prompting authorities to slow traffic on the highway as a precautionary measure. The incident resulted in heavy traffic congestion, with long queues of vehicles forming on the busy stretch.
Firefighters are continuing efforts to bring the blaze under control. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
