From Challan to Compromise: Pune’s Unique Initiative For Traffic Rule Violations

Pune, 24th August 2023: The District Legal Services Authority in Pune has taken a proactive step towards addressing traffic rules violations. To expedite the resolution of challan cases, a special Lok Adalat has been scheduled for September 9th, at the office of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Branch, located near Yerwada Post Office.

In preparation for this event, a meeting was convened on August 24th, at the Deputy Commissioner of Police Traffic Branch Office in Yerwada, Pune. This meeting was attended by the Secretary of Pune District Legal Services Authority and the Judicial Magistrate (First Class) of the Motor Vehicle Court, Shivajinagar, Pune. During the discussion, it was determined that an Information Helpdesk on Concession of Penalty After Compromise of Pending Traffic Bills would be initiated at the Traffic Branch Office, Yerwada, from August 28th.

This initiative aims to serve the public interest while expediting the resolution of pending cases. Under this scheme, individuals with pending traffic violation cases can avail themselves of a concession on penalties after reaching a compromise. Motorists or vehicle owners with outstanding penalties can visit the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Branch Office, Yerwada, Pune, between 11 AM to 2 PM and 3 PM to 5 PM from August 28th. By doing so, they can settle their pending cases and enjoy a reduction in penalties through mutual agreement, said DCP (Traffic) Vijaykumar Magar.
