Pune: Mephedrone and Heroin Worth Rs 58 Lakhs Seized In Lohegaon, Crime Branch Busts Drug Trade

Pune, 24th August 2023: A youth hailing from Rajasthan was arrested by the anti-narcotics squad of the crime branch in the Lohegaon area for engaging in drug trafficking. The successful operation resulted in the confiscation of Mephedrone and Heroin valued at Rs 58 lakhs.

The individual taken into custody has been identified as Gopichand Ramlal Bishnoi, aged 28, a resident of Charholi, Pune. Originally from Punasa Bhinmal in Jalore district, Rajasthan, the arrested youth found himself in police custody following the diligent efforts of policeman Yogesh Mandhere.

The intelligence furnished to policeman Yogesh Mandhere indicated that an individual was slated to vend mephedrone and heroin within the Lohegaon area. In response, the police promptly carried out a targeted raid, successfully apprehending Bishnoi. The seized contraband, valuing a substantial Rs 58 lakhs and 57 thousand rupees, includes 312 grams of Heroin, an estimated Rs 47 lakhs in worth, and 54 grams of Mephedrone, approximately Rs 11 lakhs in value.

A formal case has been filed against Bishnoi at the airport (Vimantal) police station. The operation was executed in adherence to the directives of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ramnath Pokle, DCP (Crime Branch) Amol Zende, and ACP Satish Govekar. Spearheading the operation were Police Inspector Sunil Thopte, Police Sub-Inspector S. D. Narke, and Digambar Chavan.
