Pune, 24th June 2026: A lavish destination wedding worth crores, a Jaipur palace booked for celebrations, and two chartered aircraft arranged for guests — all preparations for the grand wedding of businessman Vishal Agarwal’s son, Ketan Agarwal, came to a sudden halt after the groom-to-be died in what was initially believed to be a trekking accident at Lohgad Fort.

In a dramatic turn of events, police investigations have now revealed that Ketan’s death was allegedly a planned murder orchestrated by his fiancée and her lover.

The Lonavala Rural Police have arrested Siya Praveen Goyal (20), Ketan’s fiancée, and her alleged lover Chetan Babulal Chaudhary (22) on charges of murder. According to police, Siya was unwilling to marry Ketan despite the match being fixed between two prominent business families and allegedly conspired with Chaudhary to eliminate him.

Investigators said wedding preparations were already underway on a grand scale. The Agarwal family had reportedly booked a palace in Jaipur at a cost of nearly ₹17 crore for the wedding festivities. Two chartered aircraft were also arranged to transport guests for the destination wedding.

However, days before the celebrations were scheduled to begin, Ketan lost his life during a visit to Lohgad Fort near Lonavala.

According to police, Ketan, Siya and a group of friends had gone trekking to the fort on the occasion of Siya’s birthday. While Ketan was standing near the edge of a valley posing for photographs, he was allegedly pushed into the gorge.

Police claim Siya had secretly called Chaudhary to the fort, and that the duo executed a pre-planned conspiracy. CCTV footage recovered during the investigation allegedly shows Chaudhary in the area wearing a hoodie and headphones in an attempt to conceal his identity.

After Ketan fell into the valley, Siya allegedly raised an alarm, leading onlookers to believe it was an accident. Tourists at the fort alerted authorities, and a rescue team retrieved Ketan from the gorge. He was later declared dead at a hospital.

What initially appeared to be a tragic trekking mishap soon came under scrutiny as investigators found inconsistencies in statements and evidence pointing towards foul play. The subsequent probe led police to conclude that the incident was a planned murder rather than an accidental fall.
