Fruit Prices Surge In Pune Market Yard Amid Rising Demand

Market Yard, 3rd March 2025: The prices of Watermelon, Melon, and Papaya have increased by ₹2 to ₹5 per kg in Pune’s Market Yard Fruit Market due to higher demand compared to supply. Similarly, the price of Lemon has surged by ₹200 per 15 to 20 kg bag, driven by increased consumption.
Despite these fluctuations, traders have reported that the prices of other fruits have remained stable compared to the previous week, as demand and supply remain balanced.
On Sunday, the market received significant fruit arrivals, including 40 to 50 tons of Sweet Lemon (Mosambi), 50 to 60 tons of Oranges, 25 to 30 tons of Pomegranate, 15 to 20 tempos of Papaya, about 1,200 to 1,300 bags of Lemon, 50 to 60 tempos of Watermelon, 30 to 40 tempos of Melon, 2,000 boxes of Chiku, 10 tons of Guava, five to six trucks of Pineapple, and two to three tempos of Strawberry.
With summer approaching, fruit demand is expected to remain high, potentially influencing further price changes in the coming weeks.
