Manjari Khurd, 15th May 2025: On Tuesday, a 42-year-old fruit vendor allegedly strangled his wife before dying by suicide, citing severe financial distress. The man, identified as Nagnath Vasant Warule, left behind a voice recording in which he expressed helplessness due to mounting debt.

The deceased woman has been identified as Ujjwala Nagnath Warule (40). Originally from Tuljapur, the couple had recently shifted to Manjari Khurd in Pune’s Haveli taluka in search of livelihood. With no steady employment available, they had taken up fruit vending to support themselves.

According to police, Nagnath had been under intense financial pressure in recent weeks. In his recorded message, he reportedly said, “I’m burdened with debt; the financial pressure is too much to bear.” He then allegedly strangled his wife and later took his own life by hanging himself in a nearby under-construction building.
Local residents discovered Nagnath’s body hanging on Tuesday morning and immediately alerted the police control room. A team of officers, led by senior officials, reached the site and began an investigation.

Police Sub-Inspector Manoj Bagal is investigating the case. An unnatural death report has been noted, and further inquiries are ongoing.
