Fund Raising Badminton Tournament To Be Held In Pune On 17th July
Pune, 13th July 2022: Ekta Somnath Walunj, a farmer’s daughter from a village in the Pune district, is preparing herself for national competitions by pursuing a career in weightlifting. She has a bright career with immense talent but financial constraints are becoming hurdles for her.
A fundraising tournament is organized on 17th July 2022 at Sanas Sports Ground, Swargate, Pune to help Ekta get a little closer to her dreams.
Ekta, a resident of Pimpri Budruk in Khed taluka, is pursuing a career in weightlifting. In her childhood, she liked running. Some of the children in the village were practising weightlifting, they also urged Ekta for the same.
While practising weightlifting only as a hobby, she yearned for competitions. Out of this, Ekta has won five gold medals at the state level so far and also participated in the senior group competition held at Bhubaneswar.
Raj Singh, a Senior International Badminton Player and Founder of Sikh Helpline Foundation says, “The main sponsor is Red Devil, India’s first energy drink. Each player will be given a t-shirt with the logo of Red Devil. The energy drink in five different flavours will be provided for free to all players. For all players, the energy drink will be given for free in five flavours.”
The categories of the event are Men’s doubles in 30+, 35+, 40+, 45+, 50+
He added, ” A cheque of Rupees One Lakh will be handed over to Ekta on behalf of the foundation.”
