Mumbai, 29th June 2023: Gadar 2, the highly-anticipated sequel to Bollywood’s iconic film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, is set to be one of the biggest releases of 2023. Scheduled to hit the screens on August 11, the film has already generated tremendous buzz on social media in the lead-up to its release. To heighten the excitement, the makers recently released the first song from the film, a recreated version of the beloved track ‘Udja Kaale Kaawa.’ Now, they are gearing up to unveil the next song, ‘Main Nikla Gaddi Leke,’ a folk number that was a chartbuster in its time.

Director Anil Sharma shared his thoughts on the upcoming film, stating, “While folk songs are often used in movies, this is the first time a film song is being treated as a folk song. Today, you can hear this song being played everywhere in Rajasthan.” He also mentioned the achievement of composer Uttam Singh and lyricist Anand Bakshi in creating this unique fusion. Adding a modern and youthful touch to the song, Mithoon has recreated another version for the film. Sharma expressed that when audiences witness the chemistry between the characters Tara and Sakeena in the song, they will be filled with nostalgia and fond memories.

Sharma intends to dedicate the song to the audience who showered their love on Gadar, saying, “This song doesn’t belong to me; it belongs to the public, and they are the ones enjoying it.”

Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel will reprise their roles from the original film, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, which had a profound impact on the Hindi film industry and emerged as a true blockbuster.

Regarding the plot of Gadar 2, the film will primarily focus on the unbreakable bond between father and son, Tara Singh and Charanjeet (Jeete), respectively. Utkarsh Sharma, who portrayed Jeete in the first film, will once again portray an Indian soldier. According to reports, the narrative of the story is set to undergo a significant shift, encompassing a 20-year leap that centres around the 1970 India-Pakistan war. This time, Tara Singh will venture across the border not to rescue his wife Sakeena but to save his son’s life.

To fill the void left by the late Amrish Puri, Manish Wadhwa has been cast in the role. Wadhwa, known for his remarkable negative character in the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan, will take on the part. Actor Rohit Choudhary, recognized for his work in films and television serials like Bareilly Ki Barfi, Naagin, and Kumkum Bhagya, has been roped in as the second antagonist in Gadar 2. Sunny Deol, portraying Tara Singh, will be seen battling against these two adversaries in the movie.

Gadar, produced with a modest budget of only Rs 19 crores, stands in stark contrast to its successor, Gadar 2, which is rumoured to be crafted with a whopping budget of Rs 100 crores. Alongside Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, Utkarsh Sharma, Manish Wadhwa, and Rohit Choudhary, the film will also feature Simrat Kaur, Gaurav Chopra, Mir Sarwar, Anil George, and Luv Sinha in pivotal roles.
