Galli Galli Sim Sim, kids’ well-loved edutainment show now 6 times a week on DD National

28 May 2018: This summer, kids have an exciting opportunity to watch and learn from television. The much-loved edutainment show, Galli Galli Sim Sim, Indian adaptation of the world-renowned Sesame Street, is now on DD National 6 times a week. Special segments on the theme of a healthy body and mind are being telecast on DD National every Monday to Friday, 3 – 4 PM. In addition to the special weekday series, Season 9 of the show is being broadcast on Saturday mornings at 10:30 a.m.

The show is a bouquet of special episodes which motivate kids to stay healthy. In these special episodes, running on DD National, children get important tips on how to stay happy and healthy. In the ‘Galli Ki Duniya’ segment of the show, you see Khadoosa exercising in a fun way, Hero taking the role of Exercise King for a movie and Boombah teaching dance moves to Hero and lots more. In the ‘Word on the Street’ segment Grover explores meaning of different words like ‘kasrat’ and ‘exercise’. The show also has live action segments which bring stories from different parts of India to the young viewers, like the story of a girl from Nagaland who practices karate, the Kachi Ghodi dance from Pushkar, techniques of playing football shared by a young boy in Kolkata and many more. Foot-tapping covers of Bollywood dance tracks, Galli Galli Sim Sim style, motivate kids to get up and get moving.

Sesame Workshop India, the organization behind Galli Galli Sim Sim has designed special thematic episodes keeping in mind the educational and entertainment needs of children. For example, through the summer season there are special segments around promoting a healthy body and mind. In June and July, as kids prepare to get back to school after the summer break, they will get to see special episodes on literacy and numeracy which will prepare them for lessons taught in school. In the months ahead, there will be special series on health and hygiene, celebrations, ensuring safety and developing socio-emotional skills.

Galli Galli Sim Sim is broadcast on DD National every Monday to Friday from 3 – 4 p.m. and every Saturday at 10:30 a.m. The show is also broadcast on Doordarshan’s regional channels: DD Girnar (Gujarati), DD Sahyadri (Marathi), DD Bihar, DD Uttar Pradesh, DD Madhya Pradesh and DD Rajasthan. The show has reached more than 150 million children since its debut.
