Valve put up on pipeline for stealing diesel in Lohegaon

Pune – A gang of policemen have been busted by Pune Crime Branch who had stolen about 5000 litre diesel worth Rs 3 lakhs by breaking pipeline of the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) in Lohegaon last month.

After a thorough investigation, sleuths from the anti-dacoity cell of Pune city police crime branch have arrested six persons including police officers. They have been handed over to Vimantal police station.

The arrested accused are PSI Ravindra Bhide of Pune city police, PSI S S Thombre of Pune rural police and policemen Avinash Shivsharan, Motiram Pawar, Dinesh Anil Pawar and Ismail Shaikh.

The theft was detected after the company officials found low pressure at the filling station. After investigation it was found that that the pipeline was broken.

Accordingly HPCL officer Rajesh Waghmare lodged a complaint with Pune city police and an FIR was registered with Vimantal (airport) police station on May 12.

The incident took place between 3.59 am on May 11 till 6 pm on May 12 at Talera farm in Santnagar locality of Lohegaon. HPCL has a pipeline to carry petrol, diesel and kerosene. The thieves had broken the pipeline and put up a valve through which they had stolen about 5000 litre of diesel.
