Crime Branch recovers stolen valuables worth Rs 1.4 crores inlcuding 2 kg gold

Pune – Officials from Crime Branch unit 5 of Pune city police have nabbed two members of an inter-state gang of robbers and claimed to have seized stolen valuables worth Rs 1.4 crores including 2 kg gold and Rs 66 lakhs cash.

The duo were caught after a hot chase at Undri chowk on June 1 by a team led by police inspector Dattatray Chavan who had laid a trap. The accused have been identified as Jaffar Shahzaman Irani (38) of Loni Kalbhor and Amjad Ramzan Pathan (35) of Beed.

Police said that they are involved in over 130 cases of burglaries, thefts and robberies in Pune and other places since 2013.

The valuables recovered are worth Rs 1.40 crore, which includes over Rs 66 lakh , 4,015 dollars and and 600 pounds.

The trap was laid based on tip-off received by assistant inspector Mahadev Waghmode, havaldar Manik Pawar and naik Amjad Pathan that Irani and his accomplice will be passing Mantarwadi, Undri and Kondhwa on a black motorbike on June 1.
