Get PAN Card for Children Below 18 Years of Age; Check Details Below to Follow Steps
New Delhi, 28th October 2024: Whether filing income tax returns, opening a bank account, or investing, many tasks cannot be completed without a PAN card. Therefore, obtaining a PAN card is crucial. Many people believe that PAN cards are issued only for individuals above 18 years of age, but there is no such rule regarding PAN cards.
According to Section 160 of the Income Tax Act, a PAN card can also be obtained for a child. The PAN card issued for a child is referred to as a Minor PAN Card, and only the parents are permitted to use this PAN card.
There are several benefits to a child having a PAN card. According to the Income Tax Department, any minor can acquire a PAN card. However, when the child turns 18 years old, it is necessary to update the card. Minor PAN cards do not contain signatures or photographs, which need to be updated later.
A PAN card is required to open a bank account. If the child has any source of earnings, a PAN card will be necessary for that as well.
