Giant Khudadad Mangoes from Karnataka Make Their Way to Pune Market Yard, Command Premium Prices

Pune, 14th May 2025: A special consignment of oversized Khudadad mangoes from Karnataka has arrived at Pune’s Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Market Yard, drawing attention for both their impressive size and strong pricing. Weighing between two and two-and-a-half kilograms each, a total of 150 kilograms of these mangoes were brought in directly by farmers and sold through D. B. Ursal & Sons.
Known for their large size, minimal seed, and juicy pulp, Khudadad mangoes are gaining popularity among Pune’s fruit lovers. Trader Rohan Ursal, who handled the sale, said, “Retail vendors from the Camp area bought these mangoes, which were sent in five plastic crates containing 20 to 30 kilograms each.”
The mangoes fetched between ₹60 and ₹70 per kilogram—a relatively high rate in the wholesale market.
Ursal noted that weather changes had delayed the mango season in Karnataka by nearly a month. “However, arrivals have picked up now, and we expect the season to continue until around June 15,” he added. Apart from Khudadad, other Karnataka mango varieties such as Pairi, Lalbagh, and Badami are also seeing increased arrivals in the Pune market.
With the summer heat intensifying, the arrival of these sweet and hefty mangoes is a welcome sight for both vendors and mango lovers alike.
