Hinjawadi, 14th May 2025: A Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) from Hinjawadi Police Station has been booked for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 60,000 to assist an accused in securing bail. The accused officer has been identified as Dattatraya Namdev Kale. The case came to light after a 30-year-old woman filed a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), alleging that Kale demanded a bribe in connection with a case registered against her husband at the Hinjawadi police station.
According to Assistant Police Commissioner Dayanand Gawade of the ACB, the complainant’s husband had been arrested and was in judicial custody. The woman had applied for bail in court, and the investigating officer’s statement was required for the hearing. It was at this stage that Sub-Inspector Kale allegedly demanded Rs 60,000 from her to present a favourable report in court. The woman reported the matter to the ACB on 15th April.
Following verification, the ACB found that Kale was willing to settle for a bribe of Rs 30,000 after negotiation. As a result, a case was registered against him on 14th May. The investigation is being led by ACB Police Inspector Prem Waghmare.
