Giant Starkenn and Rotary Club of Pune Smart City along with Kotak Mutual Fund to organize CYCLOTHON in Pune
· 23 Km bicycle rally to promote smarter and greener commutation will be held in Pune on February, 5, 2017
Pune, 2nd February, 2017: Starkenn Sports Pvt. Ltd. in association with Rotary Club of Pune Smart City and Kotak Mutual Fund is organizing a ‘SMART CYCLOTHON’ in Pune. This 23 KM bicycle rally will commence on 5th February, 2017 at 6.30 am from Sangamwadi Bridge near RTO. This first of its kind bicycle rally for a smarter and greener Pune will see participation of people from different walks of life. Elite riders, common citizens and cycle enthusiasts from the city are participating in this ride. This bicycle rally is powered by Kotak Mutual Fund & Exelon Basket.
Mr. Pravin Patil, MD & CEO, Starkenn Sports. Pvt. Ltd and Jaideep Parekh, President Elect., Rotary Club of Pune Smart City addressed a press conference today to announce this initiative. Ultimate aim of ‘SMART CYCLOTHON’ bicycle rally is to promote active and alternative transportation towards sustainability and engage families and the entire community. The idea behind this bicycle rally is to create an awareness about the need of pollution free commutation and promote Pune’s forgotten cycling culture.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Pravin V Patil, Managing Director and CEO, Starkenn Sports Pvt Ltd said, “The way Pune is growing with increasing motorized vehicular traffic we need to promote sustainable and pollution free commutation moving towards a healthier, greener and cleaner future by taking up cycling. At Giant Starkenn our aim is to promote cycling as a means of transport in a common man’s life and want to educate the general public about the health benefits of the sport. With this activity we aim to continue our association with Rotary Club of Pune Smart City to extend our support in all their future endeavors to promote cycling for the better tomorrow.”
Speaking on the occasion Jaideep Parekh, President Elect., Rotary Club of Pune Smart City said, “Earlier Pune city was known for its cycling culture with maximum bicycles in the country but currently there is a major drop in cycling in Pune. With this ‘CYCLOTHON’ we want to promote Pune’s now forgotten cycling culture and sustainable way of transportation for the betterment of the environment. We at The Rotary Club of Pune Smart City closely works on the various projects that are aligned to the Smart City vision and we are looking forward for the maximum participation from the Puneites for this CYCLOTHON.
