Pune, June 6, 2020: In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Somnath Lohar, president of Nationalist Student Congress, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), has demanded that the central government declare financial assistance to the families of those who passed away by COVID-19.

Lohar further stated that not only the financial assistance but the central government should also apologize to the families of the deceased. NCP supremo Sharad Pawar, MP Supriya Sule, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, NCP State president Jayant Patil, Youth NCP vice president, Abhishek Boke were marked in this letter as well.

Talking to Punekarnews.in, Lohar said, “PM Modi and his government have failed miserably, be it providing aid to the migrant labourers or the battle against COVID-19.”

When questioned about the 20 lakh crore package relief fund, Lohar replied, “The relief fund nowhere talks about the financial aid to the families of deceased, and hence this is my demand. I say this because the central government was reluctant in their decisions about the lockdown.”
