Giving Fillip to Stand Up India Scheme, One day Awareness, Outreach and Business Opportunity Program at Pune

Pune, February 25, 2020 : Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), a premier financial institution for the Promotion, Financing and Development of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector, under its revamped strategy SIDBI 2.0 and with its credit plus approach has adopted the theme of ease of access to Micro and Small Enterprises to make the MSME sector strong, vibrant and globally competitive and is playing a role of being Impact Multiplier and Digital Aggregator. SIDBI is undertaking various initiatives aimed towards development and strengthening of MSME ecosystem both in setting up and stepping up stages of business cycle. SIDBI has launched Mission Swavalamban – an umbrella program towards inducing entrepreneurship culture amongst youth. The 4S of SIDBI are the guiding pillars of the mission viz. Sampark (Connect), Samvad (Interaction), Suraksha (Security) & Sampreshan (Disseminate).

The Swavalamban Sankalp – Mega Campaign is scheduled to be held at 15 locations across the country. The first program of the series has since been launched in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. As part of the series, the next program (first in the State of Maharashtra) is happening today at Pune, Maharashtra at AlpaBachat Bhavan, Queens Garden. The programwas inaugurated in the presence of the Senior State Government Officials and officials from SIDBI, DICCI, National SC ST Hub (NSSH), etc.

Now, as part of the Mission Swavalamban program, SIDBI in association with DICCI has launched ‘Swavalamban Sankalp – Mega Campaign’, a series of one day Outreach, Awarenessand Business Opportunity Program’ pan India to give fillip to Stand Up India (SUI) Scheme – aflagship program of Govt. of India launched in 2016 to strengthen the MSME ecosystem targeted at encouraging setting up of Greenfield enterprises by Schedule Cast (SC), Schedule Tribe (ST) and Women Entrepreneurs. The objective of SUI scheme is to facilitate bank loans between Rs.10 Lakh and Rs.1 Crore to at least one SC/ST entrepreneur and at least one woman entrepreneur per bank branch for setting up of a Greenfield enterprise. The scheme has since been extended till 2025.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Mohammad Mustafa, IAS, Chairman and Managing Director of SIDBI said, “Swavalamban Sankalp, envisages boosting the penetration of the SUI scheme and providing an opportunity for the aspiring SC/ST entrepreneurs to start their entrepreneurial journey to become Swavalambi – The Job Giver as against Job Seeker. It is heartening to know that Swavalamban Sankalp will synergise the SUI scheme ecosystem with all stakeholders coming together to maximise the outreach and awareness of business opportunities and loan facility access to the aspiring SC-ST entrepreneurs across India.”

This one-day intensive program is a participative interaction by all stake holders, providing platform for awareness and genesis of business development. It is an opportunity for the invited businesses to showcase their franchise models, the aspiring SC-ST entrepreneurs to identify a business of choice and the financial institutions to generate business leads and/or grant in-principle sanctions to the aspiring SC-ST entrepreneurs.

SIDBI, besides being Stand Up Connect Centre (SUCC), manages a digital access portal (www.standupmitra.in), a dedicated portal that converges all the stakeholders in the ecosystem and acts as a one-stop hub connecting Bank Branches, Handholding Agencies, Industry Associations, etc. including tracking the progress under the SUI scheme and attending to information access. Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DICCI) is one of the leads and champion agencies on the portal, actively involved in providing handholding and mentoring support to aspiring SC/ST Entrepreneurs.

DICCI is an Indian Industry Chamber that promotes business entrepreneurship in SC/ST communities. DICCI’s vision is to instill the spirit of entrepreneurship among SC/ST youth and entrepreneurs, thereby empowering them to walk in step with the world. Its mission is to develop business leadership, to motivate SC/ST youth to enter the business and industry sector as entrepreneurs and to carve their own niche, to encourage them to contribute to the nation’s economy through wealth creation and to spread the spirit of enterprise among other fellow members, to encourage SC/ST entrepreneurs and support them in their ventures. As a handholding and mentoring agency of SUI ecosystem, DICCI is integrating its flagship spark program wherein it brings Business Idea Gallery to the doorsteps of aspiring SC-ST entrepreneurs. Through Swavalamban Sankalp campaign, DICCI shall converge a multitude of franchisee business (plug & play) models for the aspiring SC-ST entrepreneurs to choose from. It shall provide the end-to-end hand holding for developing the enterprise as chosen by the aspirant.
