Mumbai, 9th February 2026: Gold and silver prices registered a sharp rise on February 9, with both precious metals rebounding after a recent correction. According to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), the price of 10 grams of 24-carat gold jumped by ₹2,798 to ₹1,54,876, compared to the previous rate of ₹1,52,078.

Silver also saw a strong surge, rising by ₹8,736 to ₹2,53,665 per kilogram from its earlier level of ₹2,44,929 per kg.

Market data shows that gold and silver had touched record highs on January 29, when gold reached ₹1,76,121 per 10 grams and silver climbed to ₹3,85,933 per kg in the bullion market.

After three consecutive trading sessions of heavy decline, investors have started buying at lower levels. Over the past few days, gold had corrected by nearly 15 per cent, prompting buyers to return as prices stabilised. However, market experts advise against investing a large lump sum at once and recommend staggered or gradual investments instead.

Looking at the long-term trend, gold and silver delivered exceptional returns in 2025. Gold gained about ₹57,000 per 10 grams, a rise of nearly 75 per cent. On December 31, 2024, gold was priced at ₹76,162 per 10 grams, which climbed to ₹1,33,195 by December 31, 2025.

Silver saw an even steeper increase, rising by ₹1.44 lakh per kg, or 167 per cent, during the same period. Its price moved from ₹86,017 per kg at the end of 2024 to ₹2,30,420 per kg by the end of 2025.

Experts also advise buyers to take certain precautions while purchasing gold. Consumers should always buy BIS hallmarked and certified gold to ensure purity. The hallmark is an alphanumeric code that confirms the carat value of the gold.

In addition, buyers should cross-check the gold price on the day of purchase from reliable sources such as IBJA, as rates vary for 24-carat, 22-carat, and 18-carat gold.

With volatility continuing in the bullion market, analysts say cautious and well-timed investments remain the best strategy for retail investors.
