Goons set shop on fire for refusing Rs 150 discount on slippers

Pimpri – A shopkeeper in Morwadi has sustained losses to the tune of Rs 16.6 lakh after his shop was set on fire for refusing Rs 150 discount on purchase of slipper (chappal).

The incident took place on Sunday night and the goons also assaulted the shopkeeper Irshad Khan with choppers.
According to police, Munna alias Mahesh Chandanshive who is a criminal on police record and his accomplice had gone to Khan’s shop for buying slippers. After purchasing slippers for Rs 500, they asked for Rs 150 discount which led to arguments. The accused assaulted Khan with choppers. The attackers also terrorised other shopkeepers who downed their shutters.

Later around midnight Munna with the help of his accomplice set Khan’s shop on fire causing loss of Rs 16.6 lakhs.
After the incident, DCP Basavraj Teli, ACP Ram Mandurke and senior police inspector Vivek Muglikar visited the spot.

Till now police have arrested six persons in the case.
