Government’s Whatsapp ‘Sandes’ Launched In India

New Delhi, February 18, 2021: National Informatics Center (IMC) has launched the indigenous version of WhatsApp ‘Sandes’ in India. It is an instant messaging app. The state and central officials use the ‘Government Instant Messaging System (GIMS)’ however will now use the ‘Sandes’ app. Along with government officials, other citizens of India will be able to use the ‘Sandes’ app. Here’s how you can download ‘Sandes’ app and sign-up for it.

How to Download ‘Sandes’

‘Sandes’ app is available for both iOS and Android users. The phone must have an Android version 5.0 or above for the app. The iPhone should have iOS 12 or above. Users can download the APK file of this app through the GIMS portal, the official website of the government. This app is not currently available in the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

After downloading, users must sign-up with their mobile number or email ID. After this, you will receive a six-digit OTP. Next, you must provide the details of your gender. The sign-up process will be then be completed. The best feature of this app is that foreign apps will not be able to steal your private data. The app has been developed by NIC (National Informatics Center), which is part of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
