Gujarat CM flags-off Vadodara International Half Marathon-2016

Around 50,000 including physically-abled people participate in the event

Ahmedabad, Sunday: Gujarat Chief Minister Mrs. Anandiben Patel flagged-off, Vadodara International Half Marathon organized as a part of Khel Mahakumbh-2006,  in the early morning today at Vadodara. Around 50,000 runners including 1,500 physically-abled people participated in different 5 to 21 km categories

CM congratulated the management team for organizing such an event and emphasized to participate in various sports activities including marathon for better physical and mental health. She also lauded marathon events being organized in different cities of the state with themes on social issues.

A Dubai based artist dedicated an oil-painting to the CM on the occasion. Brand Ambassador of the marathon and newcomer in international cricket Mr. Hardik Pandya, senior cricketers Mr. Irfan Pathan and Mr. Yushuf Pathan were also present during the event.

She informed that every year 40 to 50 lakh people participate in Khel Mahakumbh event initiated by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. She appreciated physically-abled runners for their participation. She also expressed her delight on presence of religious gurus at the event.

On the occasion, Finance and Energy Minister Mr. Saurabhbhai Patel, MPs Mrs. Ranjanben Bhatt, Mr. Ramsinh Rathwa, Vadodara Mayor Mr. Bharat Dangar, MLAs, Office bearers, dignitaries and huge number of people present to witness the event.
