Pune: Guru Tegh Bahadur Football Tournament from January 6

Pune, 3rd January 2023: The Guru Tegh Bahadur Sports Foundation will be hosting a ‘Gold Cup’ sports tournament in Pune from the 6th of January. The tournament is hosted on the occasion of the 347th anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom. The tournament will be hosted at the COEP football ground in Shivajinagar, Pune. It will be the 21st edition of the tournament.
The Foundation is offering more than Rs 1.5 lakh in cash prizes alongside gifts like bags, footballs, medals and certificates to the winners and runner-ups. The draws will be taken on the 4th of January. A Shanti Pooja will also be carried out for victims of the Covid-19 pandemic on the 5th of January, as the ground was used as a Covid centre during the pandemic.
So far, 32 teams have entered the tournament, and the organisers are hoping for more entries. The Awards Ceremony will be carried out on the 15th of January.
