Hagawane Family Scandal Deepens: Mayuri Hagawane Alleges Assault by In-Laws, Shares Shocking Details
Pune, 22nd May 2025: The ongoing investigation into the alleged suicide of Vaishnavi Hagawane has taken a new and dramatic turn with serious allegations emerging from within the family itself. Mayuri Hagawane, the elder daughter-in-law of the Hagawane family, has accused her in-laws, including Vaishnavi’s husband Shashank Hagawane, of repeated physical assaults and mental harassment.
Mayuri, who is married to Shashank’s elder brother, Sushil Hagawane, made the allegations during an exclusive interview with TV9. She also shared photographic evidence of her injuries, claiming that she and her husband were targeted by Shashank, his parents Rajendra and Meenakshi Hagawane, and sister Karishma Hagawane.
Allegations Against Former Political Office-Bearer
In a startling revelation, Mayuri stated that her father-in-law, Rajendra Hagawane, a former office-bearer associated with Ajit Pawar’s political faction, had physically assaulted her. “Since my marriage in 2022, I faced harassment from day one. When my husband supported me, even he was beaten,” she said.
Mayuri further alleged that her in-laws falsely accused her of infidelity and prevented the couple from living independently. “We tried to move out, but they stopped us. Eventually, I had to leave and return to my parents’ home,” she added.
Police Complaint and Isolation Tactics
Following continued abuse, Mayuri filed a police complaint against her in-laws on November 5, 2024. She claimed that the accused went into hiding soon after the FIR was registered. “They cut off electricity and water, barred maids from entering, and kept me confined to one room with my own stove and utensils. They made life unbearable,” Mayuri said.
She also alleged that the family kept Vaishnavi Hagawane isolated and even maligned her character. “They wouldn’t let her speak to anyone who might support her. They even accused her of having improper relations with her father-in-law and brother-in-law,” Mayuri claimed.
Questions Raised Over Nilesh Chavan’s Role
Mayuri also brought up the name of Nilesh Chavan, a recurring figure in the case. “He is not Shashank’s friend as claimed, but an associate of Karishma Hagawane. Several meetings involving my mother-in-law and sister-in-law were held at his office,” she alleged.
Emotional Testimony Raises Further Concerns
Recalling one incident, Mayuri said, “Shashank came into our room and beat both me and my husband. They even pressured him to divorce me and remarry. He would cry in front of me.” She stated that the harassment led to extreme emotional and social isolation.
Investigation Ongoing
The police have already filed FIRs against key members of the Hagawane family, who are currently absconding. Mayuri’s testimony adds another serious layer to the case, further deepening the mystery around Vaishnavi Hagawane’s death.
Authorities have not yet issued an official response to the latest allegations, but sources indicate that Mayuri’s statements will be included in the broader investigation currently underway.
