Health Check-up Camps for Construction Labourers launched in the city

Pune, May 16, 2018: For the purpose of maintaining good health of the construction workers and their families, CREDAI-Pune Metro jointly with Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and National Health Mission have organised this initiative. The first health check-up camp series was initiated today at labour camp of Naiknavare Developers P Ltd. site in Aundh.

A total of 180 workers were inspected in the first Health check-up camp. Apart from routine health check-up, adults were injected for tetanus and children were given polio drops. This initiative will execute another 44 Free Health Check-up Camps over six months at Construction sites in PMC Sector. Under this Normal Health Check-up, Immunization, Awareness Program regarding National Vector Borne Disease, prevention and control, Birth Registration etc. will be included.

Anand Naiknavare, Director, Naiknavare Developers Pvt. Ltd, Dr. D.K. Abhyankar, Director General, CREDAI Pune Metro, both Archana Badera and Sapna Rathi Labour welfare committee member and convener of CREDAI Pune Metro Ladies wing, Parag Patil member of LWC, Samir Parkhi, Co-ordinator, Labour Welfare CREDAI-Pune Metro, Dr. Kalpana Baliwant, AMOH, PMC, Dr. Ketaki Ghatge, Associate health officer and Joint-secretary, National Urban Health mission, Dr. Amit Shah, Immunisation Officer, Mr.Vinod Jadhav, Co-ordinating officer PMC and Vikas Jadhav, HR Head of Naiknavare Developers Pvt. Ltd. were present on the occasion.

Dr. Kalpana Baliwant stated, “Workers have to go to various construction sites. Thus, the dose of vaccination of their children is not completed because of which they are prone to various diseases. Such camps are the need to of the hour to address and solve these problems.”

“It is a good time to create awareness among the workers regarding health problems in the monsoon. There are total of 15 people involved in this camp, including gynaecologist, physicians, doctors, nurses and vaccination vehicle,” said Dr. Ketki Ghatge.

Dr. D. K. Abhyankar said, “This initiative will definitely increase health awareness amongst the worker and Construction sector at large. Not only awareness but if diagnosed with disease then we will take steps to provide treatment and refer them to nearest PMC hospital.”

He further informed, CREDAI Pune Metro through LWC discharges various corporate social responsibilities directly and through its members Viz. Health Checkup Camp, Creches, Immunization Programs, Schools for the children of the labours working at construction sites.

Anand Naiknavare who was also the host expressed, “Workers have contributed towards the progress of the country. They deserve opportunities for their development on different levels. With this series, much needed step towards health development have been taken. We will continue to implement such a number of initiatives to resolve the issues like frequent migration of workers, legal issues, child education, safety at workplace.”

“Labour Welfare Committee makes sure to provide all the facilities to the workers, besides providing benefits of the government schemes, skill development and safety workshops are also organized for worker,” informed Archana Badera.
