Heavy Traffic On Pune University Chowk; Drivers Shocked By Everyday Traffic Even After Appointing Rules
Ganeshkhind, 30th January 2023: As the work of flyover and Mahametro is going on Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) Chowk i.e. Ganeshkhind road, the middle part of the road is covered with this material. The rest of the road is lined with vehicles. How should citizens cross the road in such a situation? Students and senior citizens have to cross the road holding their lives.
Vehicle drivers are also shocked by the regular traffic jams on Ganeshkhind road. There are queues of vehicles from 9:30 am to 11:30 pm, and from 5:30 pm to late at night. Even when heavy traffic is prohibited from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, and 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, the traffic rules are violated.
102 pillars of the flyover between E-Square and Cosmos Bank have been completed and the foundation work is still in progress. Also, road widening works have been completed to start the actual construction of the flyover between Cosmos Bank and University Station. Due to the G-20 program, the construction was stopped at Ganeshkhind road.
However, in the present situation, the signal system at Hare Krishna Mandir Path (Central Mall) Chowk has been reactivated to start work on Ganeshkhind Road, and it will be started on a trial basis for two days through the Traffic Department.
After that permission will be obtained from the traffic police, for the actual construction of the flyover between Cosmos Bank and University Station. This information was given by the office of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA).
