Pune, 31st March 2022: In order to make people wear a helmet, Pune District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh has made it mandatory for people and government employees to wear if they want to enter government offices on two-wheelers.

As per the order issued today, those who will not comply with the order will be penalised as per the provision of the Motor Vehicle Act.

According to the order, about 62% of accident victims die because of head injuries. Helmets can save lives in 80% of cases. Section 129 of the MV Act makes it compulsory for two-wheeler riders and drivers to use the helmet. The Supreme Court and High Courts have also upheld the law.

Therefore, from April 1, the helmet rule will be enforced in all government/semi-government offices, municipalities, corporations, schools, colleges, Zilla Parishad etc.
