Hinjawadi: Fed Up Of Harassment By Wife And In-Laws, Man Dies By Suicide

Pune, November 3, 2020: A 38-year-old man died by suicide as he was fed up with the harassment from his wife and father-in-law for Rs 50 lakh. A case has been registered against three members of the family, including his wife. The incident took place at Republic society in Marunji near Hinjawadi.

The deceased has been identified as Abhijit Ganesh Kharde. Based on a complaint from his father, an FIR has been registered with Hinjawadi police station against Kharde’s wife Neha (35), her maternal uncle Vishwas Joshi and her father Nitin Bakre.

According to police, Neha had filed a case of harassment (498A) against her husband Kharde and also demanded maintenance money. Later they reached a settlement wherein Kharde agreed to pay Rs 50 lakh to Neha and she had agreed to take back her complaints.

Kharde gave Rs 20 lakh to Neha. However, for the remaining amount Neha, her maternal uncle and father were harassing Kharde. Fed up with the ordeal, Kharde died by suicide on October 31. In a letter written before his death, Kharde said that he was fed up with the mental, physical and financial torture inflicted on him by Neha, her uncle and father.
