Hinjawadi Resident Booked for Impersonating Deputy CM Office OSD in Pune
Pune, 2nd April 2026: Vishrambag police have registered a case against a 47-year-old man for allegedly impersonating an officer from the Deputy Chief Minister’s Office and promising to help a complainant recover compensation in a software fraud case.
The accused has been identified as Pradyuman Srihari Patil (47), a resident of Lijant Society in Hinjawadi. The incident took place at the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 1, around 4.30 pm on April 1.
Police Sub-Inspector Dattatray Jadhav has lodged a complaint in this regard at the Vishrambag police station.
According to Deputy DCP Krushikesh Rawale, a software-related fraud case had been registered at Samarth police station in 2021 and is currently pending before a court. Patil allegedly came into contact with the complainant, Agarwal, through a friend.
Patil reportedly claimed that he was working as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the office of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. He allegedly told the complainant that he could help secure compensation through police intervention and an out-of-court settlement, demanding a 10 percent share of the amount as his commission.
On Wednesday afternoon, Patil visited the office of DCP Rawale and introduced himself as an OSD from the Deputy Chief Minister’s office. His claim initially created confusion among the staff, who believed that an official from the Deputy Chief Minister’s office had arrived.
Patil then met Rawale and alleged that the police had not conducted a proper investigation into the case registered at Samarth police station. He also claimed that he had repeatedly sent messages but had not received any response.
His statements raised suspicion, following which Rawale verified the claim with the office of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Officials there confirmed that no such person was serving as an OSD.
During questioning by DCP Rawale, Patil’s impersonation came to light. He was subsequently handed over to Vishrambag police. Police have issued him a notice and summoned him for further questioning.
Assistant Police Inspector Pandurang Waghmare is conducting the investigation.
