Reported by Shoaib Tadvi
Wanowrie, 2nd April 2026: Large mounds of debris have accumulated at Kakae Grounds near Samvidhan Chowk in Wanowrie, raising serious concerns among local residents and shopkeepers about hygiene and public health.
According to locals, the area has increasingly become a dumping spot for construction waste and other debris, creating an unhygienic environment. Dust from the piles spreads across nearby shops and roads, affecting daily life as well as business activities.
Nehal Deshmukh, a tea stall owner in the area, expressed frustration over the situation. “The dust from the debris constantly enters our shop. It is becoming difficult to maintain cleanliness, and it is affecting our customers,” he said.
Residents have also voiced concern, stating that the issue has persisted for several days without any visible action. “This is a serious matter. The local authorities, especially the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), should take responsibility and ensure proper waste management,” said a local resident.
When contacted, a PMC official said they were not aware of the issue. “We have not received any information regarding this. However, we will look into the matter and take the necessary action at the earliest,” the official said.
The situation highlights ongoing challenges related to waste management in rapidly growing urban areas like Pune, where improper disposal of construction debris continues to pose risks to the environment and public health.
