Hinjawadi, Wakad, Kondhwa, Bhosari electricity supply expected to resume by tonight

Pune, June 5, 2020: The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Limited (MSEDCL) has said that power supply in Hinjawadi, Wakad, Kondhwa and Bhosari, will be restored by tonight. Many areas don’t have electricity for the last 48 hours. People have complained several times. Due to cyclone Nisarga, there were heavy rains in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad areas.

“The delays were due to power outages in many places because of trees and branches falling on the power lines. But the repair is nearing completion. Power supply to one transformer in Kondhwa area, three in Wakad and Hinjawadi area and two in S block in Bhosari will be started by tonight. Apart from these six transformers, the power supply has been restored in all parts of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad. At present, redressal of personal grievances of power consumers due to power outages due to broken branches or other causes during storms is in full swing”, MSEDCL stated in a press release.

2650 electric poles damaged
According to preliminary estimates, about 2650 power poles in Pune district have been damaged due to cyclone ‘Nisarga’. An action plan has been prepared to rebuild these power poles. Contractors of various schemes are being assisted for the repair work and engineers and employees of MSEDCL from other areas have been sent on deputation for repair work, informed Pune Regional Director of MSEDCL (Q) Ankush Nala.

In the last two days, Nala inspected the power supply and repair work. During this time he interacted with the engineers and staff and understood various difficulties. He lauded all the engineers and staff who worked tirelessly day and night to restore power supply.

Priority has been given to repair the power supply immediately or to start supplying power to the consumers first through alternative as well as other temporary arrangements. At present power supply has been started to all the lines in the district except 78 in Maval and Junnar areas. At present, redressal of personal grievances of customers regarding disconnected power supply is in full swing. In this time of crisis, consumers should cooperate with MSEDCL, appealed Pune Regional Director (Q) Nala.

Work on war footing Maval, Khed, Ambegaon
All the 47 substations with a capacity of 33/11 KV in Maval, Junnar, Khed and Ambegaon talukas have been reopened in the last 24 hours. Power supply to 309 power lines from these substations has also been started. At present, work is underway to supply power to 78 remote and severely damaged power lines in Junnar and Maval areas. Repairs are taking time in many places due to falling trees and branches as well as remote areas.

MSEDCL has 200 engineers and 800 Janmitras as well as 450 employees of contractors working in four talukas of Pune district namely Maval, Khed, Junnar and Ambegaon. Regional Director (Q) Nala visited various places and inspected the repair and damage to the power system. Chief Engineer Sachin Talewar, Superintendent Engineer Rajendra Pawar along with MSEDCL engineers and employees are working day and night on the battlefield to restore power supply in Maval and Junnar talukas. It is planned to operate the remaining power outages in remote areas in the next 24 hours.
