Pune, 3rd September 2026: The Pune Traffic Police have announced traffic restrictions and diversions across several parts of the city on September 4 and 5 in view of the Shri Krishna Jayanti and Dahi Handi celebrations.

The changes have been planned anticipating large crowds and will be implemented as required depending on the crowd situation, the traffic police said.

In the Phadke Haud area, traffic restrictions will come into effect from 4 pm on September 4 and continue until the crowd disperses. Vehicles approaching the area from Jijamata Chowk, Sonya Maruti Chowk and Ganesh Road, among other routes, will be diverted through alternative roads.

Traffic restrictions will also be imposed on Shivarkar Road from 4 pm on September 5 until the crowd disperses. Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes, including Samvidhan Chowk, Salunkhe Vihar Road and Flower Valley Lane.

In addition, traffic regulation and route diversions will be implemented in areas under the jurisdiction of the Lashkar, Warje, Samarth, Bund Garden and Kalepadal traffic divisions, depending on the crowd situation.

At some locations, traffic may be converted to one-way movement, while certain roads may be completely closed temporarily and traffic diverted through designated alternative routes.

“Citizens should preferably use public transport during the Dahi Handi celebrations, follow the available alternative routes and cooperate with the traffic police to ensure smooth traffic movement,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dr Sandeep Bhajibhakare.

Motorists have also been advised to plan their journeys in advance and avoid restricted routes wherever possible to minimise inconvenience during the celebrations.
