Hit-and-Run in Katraj: Woman Killed, Two Injured by Speeding Tempo on Pune-Satara Road

Katraj, 11th November 2024: A hit-and-run incident occurred in the Katraj area on Pune-Satara Road, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to two others. The deceased has been identified as Deepali Vaibhav Berge, while the injured are Adinath Vaidande and his wife, Parvati. A case has been registered against the tempo driver, who fled the scene after the accident.

According to police reports, the incident took place around 8 PM on Saturday when Adinath, Parvati, and Deepali were standing and chatting on the roadside in Katraj. A speeding tempo, traveling from Katraj Ghat towards Pune, struck Deepali, who was standing on the side of the road, before hitting Adinath and Parvati as well. The driver did not stop after the collision and fled the scene.

Citizens in the area rushed all three victims to the hospital, but Deepali succumbed to her injuries. Adinath and Parvati sustained injuries but are reported to be recovering.

Senior Police Inspector Sharad Jhine from Bharti Vidyapeeth Police Station visited the scene following the incident. The search for the tempo driver is ongoing, and police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to track down the vehicle. Police Sub-Inspector Shinde is leading the investigation.

The police have urged anyone with information about the hit-and-run to come forward and assist in the investigation.
