Hockey: 14 teams to battle for Dr. Ambedkar Trophy
Pune, 12th December 2025: Fourteen teams will fight for supremacy in the coveted Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Hockey Tournament 2025 trophy, at the Major Dhyanchand Hockey Stadium, Nehrunagar, Pimpri to be held from 13 to 18 December, 2025.
A total of thirteen senior teams and one outstation team from Mumbai will be seen in action during the tournament and includes; Krida Prabhodhini; GST & Customs, Pune; Income Tax, Pune; Excellency Academy; Vikrant Hockey Academy; Friends Union Club; Pune Magician; PCMC Academy; Poona Hockey Academy; Khadki Hockey Academy; Kids XI; Pune City Police; Hockey Lovers Sports Club and Mumbai’s Republican Sports Club.
The knock-out tournament is being held under the aegis of Hockey Maharashtra and importantly is part of the 134th birth anniversary celebrations of the famed leader.
Mahendra Nikalje, President Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Tournament Committee, informed that the final of the six-day tournament has been slated for Saturday 18th July, 2025.
Apart from trophies for the winners, runners up and third place, the tournament committee will hand out cash awards of Rs. 50,000, Rs.30,000 and Rs. 20,000 to the teams respectively.
Individual awards have also been lined up.
Meanwhile, Vivek Kale has been named Tournament Director.
The opening day will witness the first match played at 12.00 noon.
A total of three matches have been scheduled for the first three days of the tournament.
