Holi Crackdown: Pune Traffic Police Take Action Against 402 Drunk Drivers

Pune, 15th March 2025: In a concerted effort to maintain safety and order during Holi celebrations, the Pune Police Traffic Branch conducted a special drive across the city. As part of this initiative, 8,552 vehicles were inspected, resulting in action against 402 drivers for drunk driving.
The operation involved setting up checkpoints at 90 locations to curb reckless driving. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Amol Zende, the campaign was conducted under the guidance of Pune City Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar and other senior officials. As a result, 386 vehicles were seized for various traffic violations, including triple riding, wrong-side driving, and drunk driving.
A total of 6,118 cases were registered, including 402 for drunk driving, 921 for triple-seat riding, and 852 for wrong-side driving, with fines amounting to ₹50,94,000. The police emphasized the importance of traffic discipline in preventing accidents and ensuring a safe and enjoyable festival for all citizens.
